Falling in Love with San Francisco

The architecture of the neighborhoods in the city of San Francisco are stunning and echo the art decor era of the thirties.

Something about San Francisco has always captured my imagination.  Since I was a little girl my mother would tell me stories about her and my father falling in love there and at Christmastime she would bring out an ornament of a small red trolly car that sang "I left my heart in San Francisco".  I would dream it was a place of art and romance, where lovers dressed smartly and rode down crooked streets leaning off the sides of cable cars, snuggled close.

Union Square is the heart and hub of the city.  It has luxurious shopping and the finest hotels.  Stay and dine here but the best parts of San Francisco are a bit further out.

San Franciso is an easy flight from LAX and the Train will take you right to Powell Station or Union Square.  To use public transport (the only way to get around here, parking and traffic are similar to NYC) download the MuniMobil App and grab a pass (3 days for 33 Dollars eat)

Go coastal for some of the best spots in San Fran.  My favorite is Golden Gate Park.  It reminds me of Balboa Park in San Diego and is no less magnificent.  Can't miss highlights here for me are the Japanese Friendship garden, and the Dutch Windmills.  Set aside a day for all the sights and museums, renting a bike and grabbing a to-go lunch from the nearby Whole Foods is also an excellent idea.

The city is a wonderful melting pot and showcases some amazing Asian cultures.

A last few fabulous places I have enjoyed on numerous trips to San Francisco include Ghirardelli Square, Sausalito boating bay, The Walt Disney Family Museum, and if you are willing to travel out a bit I highly recommend Muir Woods to see the Great Redwood trees.  Happy Travels!
